Storage of Thermal REactor Safety Analysis data
About us

About us

At present time the JRC is engaged in the management of this new version of the STRESA tool to secure the European Union storage for severe accident experimental data and calculations.

The thermal hydraulic experimental data recorded in Integral Effect Test Facilities (ITFs) are traditionally used in order to validate Best Estimate system codes and to investigate the behavior of Nuclear Power Plants under accident scenarios. In the same way, facilities dedicated to specific thermal hydraulic severe accident phenomena are used for the development and improvement of specific analytical models and codes used in the severe accident analysis for Light Water Reactors.

The feature of hosting experimental data from many other European research facilities and of providing a portal to many other databases make STRESA a great asset for future activities in the fields of severe accident modelling and of emergency preparedness and response.
